Olen tässä kevään mittaan ottanut paljonkin kuvia puutarhasta, mutta jostain syystä on jäänyt niiden jakaminen täällä blogissa vähän vähemmälle. Tässä kuvia toukokuun alkupuoliskolta.
I have been taking photos of our garden all Spring but for some reason haven't shared them with you as much as I planned. Here are some shots from the beginning of May.
One of my favourites, lilac. Our neighbour has these dark purple ones and the white ones are from our garden. Lovely, aren't they? A mansion museum nearby claims that England's first lilacs were found (planted) in Nonsuch Palace which was Henry VIII's "hunting lodge" and located near the mansion - unfortunately nothing is left of the palace anymore. Well, who knows but lilacs did become more popular in Europe in the second half of the 16th century. Their origin is in Turkey and Balkan peninsula, I believe.
Our peony. Funny how the same plant looks so different in these two pictures.
Finally, one of the many roses we have in our garden. We will have a lot more of this luxury later this Spring and Summer. Those of you who have read my blog posts from last Spring might remember that we have a lot of roses here in our garden, about two dozen or more and all different.
Oikein mukavaa toukokuista viikon alkua!
Enjoy this new week!
