I regurlarly follow a Finnish blog called Visuaalisesti Vaativa (Visually demanding?) and inspired by Aino's hunt for a brownie's cap I decided to share the everyday events of a nursery school life with you. Or actually how everyday actually means celebration every week.
päiväkotisedältä, että kesken jäänyt jouluaskartelu olisi paikalla vielä huomennakin.
Our Toddler goes to a magnificent nursery school here in our village. It is great to see Äiti (Mummy) in the afternoon but there are days when staying would be so much more fun, like in the Summer when riding a bike in the school garden was something Toddler just couldn't stop or yesterday when he had to make sure (5 times) with the School Uncle that the Christmas decoration he was busy making would still be there tomorrow.
Almost every week at school is a theme week. There is harvest week, trafic safety, super heroes, books, remembrance and so on. And of course there are all the British special days from the Queen's Birthday to halloween, plus some international ones like diwali. Quite often dressing up is a part of these themes. Children are asked to wear blue for grandfathers' day, dress up as their favourite character on the book week, as a teddy bear, super hero, king, halloween...
(kertakäyttöistä) naamiaisasua osteta, vaikka ne tuossa lähimarketissa edullisia ovatkin. Kuningattaren syntymäpäiväksi ostettu asu jäi kokonaan pitämättä Taaperon tasavaltalaismielipiteiden (hehee) vuoksi, mutta toisaalta Teräsmies-asu on puettu päälle kotona useampaankin kertaan.
Needless to say we don't buy a new costume every time even though they are quite cheap in the local supermarket. As a republican (ha ha) Toddler refused to wear the costume bought for Queen's Birthday but on the other hand Superman costume has been in use for several times at home.
Serkkupojalle on siis luvassa täältä yksi jos toinenkin naamiaisasu. Terveisiä vain V:lle meiltä kaikilta! Ja joko teillä muilla on tonttulakit kaivettu esiin pikkujoulukaudelle?
For Christmas I was well ahead of any schedule and bought the cutest elf/santa costume for Toddler already couple of weeks ago. Well, yesterday I learned from the school that you should dress your children as ANGELS in the Christmas party. Luckily there is still time to find the angel costume and no worries, we'll wear the santa dress at home then. Or for the Christmas party at Finnish School. I hope.
So little Cousin V, you will get a small pile of costumes from us soon. Greetings to you from all of us! And you others, have you already found your little helper's cap for Christmas party season?
